Has anyone noticed how much time we actually spend watching stupid shows like ET canada. It is ridiculous. Today I came home from school, watched some Oprah then some Dr. Phil, then did some studying. Then I go to night class and come home and watch ET canada. I don’t know, I dont think it is a very good thing. I am constantly being fed biases, and we use this as a way to relax, or at least I use TV to relax after a stressful day at school. And as much as I wrote in my previous blog about needing to ask why, I am not going to lie, while it is a good method in theory, after coming home from a stressful day the last thing I want to do is do some more critical thinking. So I don’t. And what results is me taking things at face value.
Also, how much publicity is the Anna Nicole Smith story getting? It is crazy how much media coverage this is getting. The news talks more about her then what is going on with the war in Iraq. How crazy is that? How pitiful is it that I know more about some blonde haired female made popular because she was a playmate, then something that affects our everyday lives. Anna Nicole in no way effects my everyday life that is for sure. It is just gossip to talk about durring the day. But something like the war is a huge deal, and yet we aren’t going to here about it until the media decides to tell us what really happened to Anna Nicole.
Just some thoughts!

It still amazes me these days that tabloid news such as the death of Anna Nicole Smith are more publicized than something that actually matters. I think news stations need to get their priorities straight in terms of relaying important information to the public rather than focusing on what the stars in Hollywood are up to. Don’t get me wrong… I still want to know what some of the stars in Hollywood are up to, but I would rather be informed about issues that can directly affect me. What Hollywood stars are up to does not affect the way live my life but knowing about the smoking Bylaw and things of that nature do.

I must admit that I also use Oprah, Dr. Phil and ET as a way to relax and unwind at the end of the day. I love hearing about all the chaosand drama that goes on in the lives of the rich and famous.
As much as I tend to complain about my boring life as a poor student, I would definetly take my life over the publicly displayed lives of the stars. One would usually expect the lives of the rich and famous to be stress free and awesome because in most cases they have abundant amounts of money to spend on whatever they so desire, but at the end of the day the endless money seems to be causing more bad then good. Thus, making me appreciate my boring life as a student.

I must say that I am soo sick of hearing about anna nicole smith! It’s ridiculous! Isn’t the news supposed to inform us about daily happenings around the world? When I was a kid I never wanted to watch the news because it was “boring” but now it seems like the news is filled with more celebrities and pop culture than anything else. Should anna nicole smith really be making headline news on CNN? When the news of her death was first released I was informed by CTV news, not Entertainment Tonight, which really annoyed me. I want to watch the news to become more informed about IMPORTANT issuses, not britney’s buzz cut or linsay’s rehab.
